El parque "High Line" se ha convertido, en tan sólo 2 años, en uno de los favoritos para los turistas y para sus ciudadanos. Paseando por él te puedes encontrar a grupos de personas corriendo o dando clases de pilates, yoga, etc a 9 metros por encima de la calle. Unas vistas al río Hudson maravillosas, instalaciones de arte público, tumbonas para tomar el sol y zonas verdes de paisajismo serán algunas de las mejoras que tiene la antigua vía de tren de los años setenta.
The High Line has became, in only 2 years, in one of the favorites for everyone. Walking along the park, you can find people running or doing pilates, yoga, etc. With a wonderfoul view of the Hudson river, public art facilities, sun loungers and green spaces will be some of the improvements that the former route of train of the seventies will get.
Se inauguró su primer tercio, el 8 de junio del 2009, tan sólo hace 2 años, y actualmente podrá completarse la tercera fase del proyecto en el West Side Rail Yards, incluyendo el tramo en la Décima Avenida. El anunció se realizó el 1 de noviembre de este año.
It was opened in the first third, June 8, 2009, only 2 years ago, and nowadays the third phase will take place in the West Side Rail Yards, including the Tenth Avenue section. It was announced this Novemeber.
En 1980, pasó el último tren que atravesó las vías de tren y éstas fueron abandonadas. Cuando el Ayuntamiento anunció que iban a demolerlas, se organizó un grupo en defensa de la conservación del Patrimonio Histórico con la participación de personajes importantes como Edward Norton o Diane von Furstenburg, que consiguió el apoyo municipal.
In 1980, the last train crossed the train routes and these were left. When the Town hall announced that they were going to be demolished, a group in defense of the Historical Heritage conservation was organized with the participation of important celebrities as Edward Norton or Diane von Furstenburg, who obtained the municipal support.
Mi visita fue durante el día aprovechando para visistar el Meatpacking District y alucinar con sus tiendas de marca que nada tienen que envidiar a la 5ª avenida, pero recomiendo también visitarlo por la noche con sus impresionantes luces y vistas. Si desean tomarse algo, en la zona hay muchos bares, recomiendo el del Standard hotel (similar al de los Ángeles y Miami), el Boom Booom Room (del que ya hablé en otro post), que es donde se encuentra la parte más grande del parque.
My visit was during the day, taking advantage of my Meatpacking District visit and hallucinating with its shops, but I recommend to visit it during the night as well, with its amazing lights and sights.. If you fancy to drink something, there are many bars, and why not trying the the Standard hotel... (similar to that of Los Angeles and Miami), the Boom Boom Room (click to see a post about it).
Localización: empieza en el Meatpacking District y sube hasta el oeste de Chelsea. De Gansevoort St a 20 th St ente Ninth Ave e Eleventh Ave, entradas en Gansevoort St, 14th St, 16th St, 18th St y 20th St; acceso al ascensor en 14th y 18th St (7:00 - 22:00 h).

Que pena que cuando fui hace 3 años no estaba todavía abierto, tendre que apuntarlo para la proxima.
Yo no pude verlo todo, sólo estaba abierta una parte, asique también me tengo que apuntar el resto del parque para la próxima.
