Para los que no hayáis oÃdo hablar de este tipo de avión, el Solar Impuse, es el primero movido sólo por la energÃa del Sol. Finalizó su primer vuelo internacional en Bruselas el 13 de mayo de 2011, habiendo comenzado en Payerne (Suiza) el mismo dÃa, con una duración de 13 horas, y con capacidad de 24 horas de vuelo ininterrumpidas.
Con este novedoso avión, conocido también como "la libélula solar", pretenden disminuir la gran dependencia del petróleo en nuestra sociedad y apostar por las energÃas limpias o sostenibles que nos ofrece nuestro entorno.

El avión tiene una envergadura de 63,4 metros y pesa 1.600 kg. La energÃa solar se elabora a partir de 12.000 celdas fotovoltaicas, almacenándolas en baterÃas que posibilitan los vuelos nocturnos, y que mueven cuatro motores de 10 caballos cada uno.
Sus fabricantes esperan que esté preparado para su uso comercial en el 2013. ¿Creéis que tendrá éxito y lo utilizaremos o que se quedará en un invento más como el coche eléctrico?
