Caminando por Regent Street, en pleno centro londinense, encontramos esta famosa juguetería que se ha convertido en un reclamo turístico más de la ciudad. Es un lugar donde pasarán un buen rato tanto los niños pequeños como los más grandes.
Walking down Regent Street, in Central London, we find this famous toy store that it has become a tourist attraction over the city. It is a place where you will spend a good time both young children as the older.
Hamleys debe el nombre a William Hamley quien fundó una juguetería llamada "Noah´s Ark" en High Holborn en Londrés en 1760. La tienda abrió en el nº200 de Regent Street en 1881. En 1938, le fue dada a la compañía la primera "royal warrant", la segunda vino de la mano de la reina Isabel II, en 1955 como un "comerciante de jugetes y deportes". Desde el 2012, la tienda pertenece al "Groupe Ludendo" con sede en Francia.
Hamleys is called with this name due to William Hamley, who founded a toy shop called "Noah's Ark" at High Holborn in London in 1760. The store opened at No. 200, Regent Street in 1881. In 1938, it was given the company's first "royal warrant", the second one came from the hand of Queen Elizabeth II in 1955 as a "merchant of toys and sports." Since 2012, the store belongs to the "Groupe Ludendo" based in France.
A pesar de tener varias tiendas en el Reino Unido y en el resto del mundo, la más grande es la de Regent Street. Tiene 7 plantas. A mí me encantó la 3a planta que es la de niñas con toda una sección de Hello Kitty, pero en las otras hay secciones de peluches, Legos, Scalextrics, juegos de construcciones, de magia, gominolas, etc.
Despite having several stores in the UK and the rest of the world, the largest is in Regent Street and has 7 floors. I loved the 3rd floor which is the girls floor with a whole section of Hello Kitty, but there are other sections of stuffed animals, Legos, Scalextrics, building games, magic, jellies, etc..
