Es la celebración anual cristiana de la Pasión, Muerte y Resurreción de Jesús de Nazaret. Este año ha coincidido en la semana del 17 al 24 de abril. Empieza con el domingo de Ramos y termina con el domingo de Resurreción.
Durante este período, en España tienen lugar en casi todos sus pueblos y ciudades representaciones de religiosidad popular a través de, principalmente, las procesiones. Éstas tienen su origen a finales de la Edad Media cuando los monjes franciscanos se encargaban de organizar las procesiones.
La escuela de Castilla y León, por historia y patrimonio, es la más relevante. La procesión de Valladolid, por su gran pasado, donde se asentaron los grandes artistas de este tipo de esculturas e imágenes debido a que fue Corte Real, fue declarada de Interés Turístico Internacional.
En el sur, las procesiones de Andalucía y la región murciana destacan por sus grandes dimensiones, por la devoción de sus gentes y por sus famosas saetas, canciones típicas andaluzas que se cantan durante las procesiones. Las de Sevilla y Córdoba también han sido declaradas de Interés Turístico Internacional.
En estas fechas, los hoteles están llenos enseguida, asique si os interesa viajar a alguno de estos sitios, !!para otro año reservar con antelación!! Porque ya para éste, lo tendréis díficil.
