After my break I've done with the blog, I am starting telling you my visit to the the Buckingham Palace. It only opens for 8 weeks in Summer, meanwhile the Queen Elizabeth II is in the Balmoral Royal castle in Scotland.

As you know, this palace is the official residence of the British monarch in London. It was originally a petit hôtel built in 1703 by the first Duke of Buckingham and acquired by King George III in 1762. With the arrival of Queen Victoria to the throne became into official residence.

During the whole visit a audoguide narrates you things like, for instance, the enlargements and reforms that have been exposed the public rooms, the "State Rooms", made by John Nash, Edward Blore or Aston Webb.

The State Rooms are the center of public activity and are richly decorated with the most outstanding pieces from the Royal Collection including paintings by Rubens, Rembrandt, Poussins and Canaletto, Canova sculptures, porcelains of Sevres...

Because this year was the Jubilee of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, had a very interesting exhibition about her coronation. It included pieces from dresses, jewelry and shoes that wore the queen, the king consort, children or the Royal court to a visual selection of the best moments captured by the press of the time.

The tour ends at the south side of the large garden with a great view of the famous lake. In addition to the Rooms, you can visit for an additional price the Royal Mews or the Queen's Gallery.
