7 Formas de celebrar la Nochevieja // 7 Ways for celebrating the New Year´s Eve

Este post tendría que haber sido publicado el día 31 de diciembre, pero por un fallo en la programación no lo pude publicar. No todos los sitios celebran igual la entrada del año nuevo o Nochevieja, como la llamamos aquí. Cada parte del mundo tiene sus tradiciones debido a la multiculturalidad que tiene el mundo. 

This post should have been published on December 31, but by a failure in programming I could not publish. Not all sites as input celebrate the New Year or New Year's Eve, as we call it here. Each part of the world has its traditions of multiculturalism because the world has.

1. Sídney, Australia. Toda la ciudad sale a las calles, los parques, azoteas, puertos, ... Tienen muchos espectáculos previos, pero lo que todo el mundo busca ver es el "efecto puente" que han creado los pirotécnicos para iluminar el Harbour Bridge. Crean una imagen de postal al quedar reflejados en las aguas del puerto de Sídney y en las perladas paredes de su ópera. Hay dos ciclos de fuegos artificiales: a las 21h y a las 24h. 

Sydney, Australia. The whole city goes out to the streets, parks, rooftops, ports, ... They have many previous shows, but what everyone is looking to see is the "bridge effect" that have created the fireworks to light up the Harbour Bridge. Create them a picture postcard to be reflected in the waters of Sydney Harbour and the pearly walls of its opera. There are two rounds of fireworks: at 21h and 24h.

Amsterdam, Holanda

2. Ámsterdam, Países Bajos. La nochevieja holandesa recibe el nombre de "Oudejaarsdag" (Día de Año Nuevo) u "Oudejaarsavond" (Víspera del Año Nuevo). Si piensan celebrarla allí, a lo mejor quedan algo sordos debido a que no tienen miramientos a la hora de explotar miles de petardos. Ámsterdam es el centro de todas las fiestas y ofrecen una gran noche de juerga. Al igual que en otros sitios, el lugar principal para despedir el año es una plaza, la de Nieuwmarkt, en Centraal.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Dutch New Year's Eve is called "Oudejaarsdag" (New Year's Day) or "Oudejaarsavond" (New Year's Eve). If you thinks celebrating it there, maybe there are some deaf because they do not have ruthlessly exploited when thousands of firecrackers. Amsterdam is the heart of all parties and offer a great night out. As elsewhere, the main place to see the year is a square, Nieuwmarkt in Centraal.

Puerta del Sol, Madrid

3. Madrid, España. Una marabunda de gente se aglutina en torno a la Puerta del Sol para tomar una uva por cada una de las 12 campanadas. Es tradición, brindar con Cava o con Sidra después de las campanadas y llevar ropa interior roja durante ellas para atraer la buena suerte. Esta costumbre, también se puede celebrar en reuniones familiares o en fiestas llamadas "cotillones" en bares y discotecas viendo por la tele la retransmisión en directo de las campanadas. Después, la fiesta como buenos españoles continúa hasta muy tarde, incluso hasta más allá del amanecer.

Madrid, Spain. A marabunda of people gathers around the "Puerta del Sol" to make a grape for each of the 12 chimes. Traditionally, toast with Cava or Cider after the bell and dress red lingerie to bring good luck. This practice, also be held at family gatherings or parties called "cotillones" in bars and nightclubs on TV watching in live the chimes. After the feast as good Spanish continues until very late, even beyond the dawn.

4. Roma, Italia. La llamada "Notte di Capodanno" es muy parecida a la española. Se reúnen amigos y familiares en casas o discotecas, pero antes de salir es tradición tomar un buen plato de lentejas y tirar los trastos por la ventana (igual que en Nápoles) justo después de las doce, aunque ahora está prohibido. 

Rome, Italy. The called "Notte di Capodanno" is very similar to the Spanish. Friends and family gather in homes or clubs, but before going out it´s a tradition to eat a good plate of lentils and throwing stuff out the window (as in Naples) just after midnight, although it is now prohibited. 

Berlín, Alemania

5. Berlín, Alemania. Es algo diferente a la del resto, a parte de celebrar mediante una cena con la familia y amigo, se reúnen alrededor de una mesa para fundir algún objeto de plomo en una cucharada sopera. Después, se vierte el plomo fundido en una olla de agua fría y con la forma que se obtiene se interpreta el destino del próximo año.

Berlin, Germany. It's something different than the rest, apart from celebrating with a dinner with family and friends, gather around a table to melt a lead object in a tablespoon. Then molten lead was poured into a pot of cold water with the form obtained is interpreted destination next year.

Times Square, New York

6. Nueva York, Estados Unidos. Una vez más, miles de personas se concentrar en una plaza, Time Square, para ver cómo baja la famosa bola de cristal que marca la entrada de Año Nuevo.  En ella, además no faltan  actuaciones, confeti, fuegos artificiales, etc.

New York, USA. Once again, thousands of people gathered in a square, Time Square, to see how low the famous crystal ball that marks the entrance to the New Year. It also no shortage of performances, confetti, fireworks, etc..

7. Río de Janeiro, Brasil. Disfrutando de su buen tiempo, acuden a las playas de Ipanema y de Copacabana para festejar la fiesta del "Jemaná", la diosa del agua. La veneran lazando al mar millones de velas flotantes y tirando fuegos artificiales.

 

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Enjoying the good weather, go to the beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana to celebrate the feast of "Jemaná", the goddess of water. The sea roping worship million floating candles and throwing fireworks.
