Es una de las islas Canarias de España, situadas en el sur del país. Su capital es Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Su aspecto es volcánico, pues su gran atractivo turístico, además de las playas de arena negra, es su parque natural declarado por la UNESCO, Patrimonio de la Humanidad, el Parque Nacional del Teide, siéndo el Teide, la máxima elevación de España y el tercer volcán más grande del mundo desde su base.
Estuve de viaje de fin de estudios hace 2 años, aprovechando que era febrero y coincidian las fechas con sus famosos carnavales. Aquí, en todo el año hace buen tiempo. Viajando por toda la isla, podrán ver que la zona sur está ocupada por grandes complejos hoteleros y en la zona centro y norte, está más habitada por los lugareños.
Si se deciden a ir, les recomiendo:
- la playas de los Cristianos, de Las Américas o a Costa Adeje, aunque sean quizás demasiado turística.
- el Parque Nacional del Teide, es muy cómodo alquilar un coche e ir a su aire (para ver el cráter hay que pedir permiso antes por internet al Cabildo, 901501901) en lugar de contratar un tour pues la isla es pequeña y la gasolina es muy barata.
- si su hotel está en el sur como el resto del 65% del turismo de la isla, pueden visitar pueblos como La Orotava, Garachico con sus piscinas naturales, Icod de los Vinos, Puerto de la Cruz con su lago Martíanez (si le gustan las grandes piscinas con hamacas, esto es lo suyo), Santiago del Teide con su acantilado de los Gigantes, etc.
- pueden, en la zona sur, contratar un viaje en barco que les llevan a ver delfines y ballenas, y en mitad del trayecto, bañarse como cualquier rico con su yate, en medio del mar.
Tampoco pueden irse de la isla sin probar su gastronomía. A mí lo que más me gustaron fueron las papas (patatas canarias) con "mojo picón", que hasta me trajé unos cuantos botes de mojo rojo y verde para mi casa.
