Aunque no sean tan famosos como los de Amsterdam o Venecia, Londrés también tiene canales. No es un lugar tan turístico como puede ser Camden Town o el Big Ben, pero merece la pena visitarlos un día con buen tiempo. Es un remanso de tranquilidad en medio de una agitada urbe.
Although they aren´t as famous as Amsterdam or Venice, London also has channels. It´s not a place as touristy as can be Camden Town or the Big Ben, but it´s worth a one day visit with good weather. It is a haven of tranquility in a hectic city.

La "Pequeña Venecia" se encuentra situada en el sur de Maida Vale y al oeste de Paddington. Nosotras nada más salir de la estación de metro de Warwick Avenue nos fuimos a la Browning's pool -primera imagen- (donde se celebra cada año el festival "IWA Canalway Cavalcade" en mayo). Forma parte del enclave entre el Grand Union Canal y el Regent´s canal. Éste fue construido en el siglo XIX para facilitar el movimiento de mercancías.
The "Little Venice" is located in the south of Maida Vale and in the west of Paddington. We just left the Warwick Avenue metro station, we went to Browning's pool -first picture-(which is the place where is celebrated every year the festival "IWA Canalway Cavalcade" in May). It is part of the connection between the Grand Union Canal and Regent's Canal. It was built in the nineteenth century to facilitate the movement of goods.

Desde la Browning's pool se puede coger un barco que os trasladará al mercadillo de Camden Town. Cuesta alrededor de 7 libras y dura unos 50 minutos. Otras opción es dar un paseo en bicicleta o ir andando por la orilla de los canales e ir viendo los coloridos y pintorescos barcos o viviendas flotantes y las mansiones que los rodean. Nosotras nos decantamos por el paseo, haciendo una parada para comer en el Cafe Laville que se encuentra encima de un puente y tiene una terraza con unas espectaculares vistas al canal. Tuvimos suerte con el tiempo y pasamos un día muy relajado.
From Browning's pool you can take a boat that will move to Camden Town. It costs about seven pounds and takes about 50 minutes. Other option is to take a bike ride or walk along the edges of the canals and watch the colorful and picturesque boats and floating houses, and mansions that surround them. We chose the walk and decided to stop to have lunch at Cafe Laville that sits atop a bridge and has a terrace with spectacular views of the canal. We were lucky with the weather and spent a relaxed day.

Como curiosidad, en 1934 en la novela de detectives "Death of a Ghost", Margery Allingham dió el nombre de "Pequeña Venecia" a una casa con vistas al canal. El nombre cautivó a los agentes inmobiliarios después de la Segunda Guerra Mundial y todavía es muy utilizado para las caras propiedades del lugar.
As curiosity, in her 1934 detective novel "Death of a Ghost", Margery Allingham gave the name ‘Little Venice’ to a house overlooking the canal. The name caught on with estate agents after the Second World War and is still much used for the pricey properties in the locality.
