El síndrome de Lima // Lima´s syndrome

¿Lima?, ¿Lima? Si todos nos hacemos esta pregunta, nos vendrá a nuestra cabeza que Lima es la capital de Perú o Ciudad de los Reyes, pero no que es también un síndrome. Más conocido es su opuesto, el síndrome de Estocolmo. Las personas afectadas en este caso son los secuestradores, que empiezan a empatizar con los rehenes a su cargo y se vuelven más comprensibles.

¿Lima?, ¿Lima? If we all ask ourselves this question, it come to our head that Lima is the capital of Peru or City of the Kings, but it is also a syndrome. Best known is its opposite, the Stockholm syndrome. People affected in this case are the kidnappers, they begin to empathize with the hostages in charge and they become more understandable.

Recordando mi día de San Patricio en Nueva York // Recalling my St Patrick´s day in New York

Hace ya un año que pasé y disfruté el día de San Patricio en Nueva York. Aquel despliegue de personas y música que recorría las calles del Midtown, el color verde por todos los lados: en las ropas, complementos, pancartas, bares,...; los jóvenes, la mayoría universitarios, bebiendo desde por la mañana en la zona de la biblioteca ("similar" a las fiestas universitarias de España, me recordó sobre todo a mi tierra, Valladolid), familias con sus niños a ver el desfile,... Por lo que si se encuentran en un lugar donde se celebre sólo me queda decirles: vistanse de verde, beban cerveza verde y, ¡a divertirse!.

A year ago I went and enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day in New York. That deployment of people and music that walked the streets of Midtown, the color green everywhere: on clothes, accessories, banners, bars, etc; young people, mostly university students, "drinking" from the morning in the library ("similar" to the university parties in Spain, reminded me especially my land, Valladolid); families with children to watch the parade ... So if you are in a place where celebrated it, i can only say: dress with green, drink green beer and have fun!.
